City reaches settlement with injured motorcycle driver

Beaumont City Council agreed to cut Glenn McNeel a $75,000 on Tuesday, July 24. Back in 2005, McNeel filed a lawsuit against the city, claiming he lost control of his motorcycle and wrecked when the bike's tire "struck elevated pavement."

On Oct. 17, 2003, McNeel says in his suit that he was traveling on the 4400 block of Washington Boulevard, west to Interstate 10 when he lost control of his motorcycle.

McNeel's lawsuit, filed Oct. 10, 2005, in the Jefferson County District Court, also named the Texas Department of Transportation as defendant, asserting TxDoT had a responsibility to maintain the roadway.

McNeel, represented by attorneys Thomas Peterson and Michael Dodson, originally sued for physical pain, mental anguish and medical expenses.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th Judicial District, presided over the case.

Case No. B175-883
