Asbestos, bankruptcy lawyers top Biden contributors

Biden

Asbestos litigation usually lands hefty fees for plaintiff lawyers and bankruptcy lawyers, and both groups lavishly support Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, 12 of the top 13 contributors to Biden's current campaign for a sixth term as Delaware senator are in the practice of asbestos or bankruptcy law.

Beaumont's Reaud, Morgan & Quinn and Dallas firm Baron & Budd made the list of Biden donors.

Pachulski, Stang, Ziehl and Jones of Wilmington, Del., third on Biden's list of contributors, represents W. R. Grace and Company in a bankruptcy that the two at the top of the list, SimmonsCooper of East Alton, Ill., and Peter Angelos of Baltimore, Md., helped to bring about.

The New York City firm of Weil, Gotshal and Manges, in the No. 5 spot on Biden's list, represents Owens Corning in a bankruptcy that was brought on by asbestos lawsuits.
