Dirty foot tub at nail salon leads to suit

Claiming unsanitary conditions caused a serious infection on her feet, a local woman has filed a lawsuit an area nail salon.

Erika Arceneaux claims a dirty foot tub at Nina Nails lead to a case of cellulites, which is a fatty lump beneath the skin.

Arceneaux filed suit against Tina Tran and her nail salon June 24 in Jefferson County District Court.

She alleges that the tub in which she soaked her feet and the tools used at Nina Nails had not been properly disinfected.

In her suit, Arceneaux says she visited the salon on Sept. 29, 2008, for the purposes of receiving a pedicure. Once there, she sat in a spa chair and soaked her feet.

"Plaintiff later discovered that neither the tub not the tools used had been properly disinfected," the suit states. "Plaintiff's toes became seriously infected as a result of the pedicure … and plaintiff was diagnosed with cellulites by her physician."

Arceneaux alleges the nail salon negligently failed to disinfect its tools.

She is suing for exemplary damages, plus medical expenses and mental anguish.

Arceneaux is represented by attorney L. Scott Adams.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th Judicial District.
