A Beaumont woman claims she slipped and fell on a spill at the Parkdale Mall while a custodian worked nearby.
Theresa Wilson filed a lawsuit June 8 in Jefferson County District Court against CBL Parkdale Mall, CBL Parkdale Crossing and CBL and Associates.
Wilson claims she encountered a wet floor in front of the Sprint store as she walked through the Beaumont mall. After falling on the floor, Wilson noticed a custodial employee standing nearby and questioned why the employee hadn’t cleaned the spill, according to the complaint.
“The custodian responded by saying the spill was not, ‘in her area,’” the suit states.
Because of her fall, Wilson incurred medical costs; lost her earnings and her earning capacity; and suffered physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish and disfigurement, the complaint says.
She blames the mall for causing her fall, saying its employees failed to reduce or eliminate the slip-and-fall risk and the dangerous condition.
In her complaint, Wilson is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
