Woman claims daughter assaulted at Galveston hotel

GALVESTON - A Palo Pinto County woman alleges an employee of the Flagship Hotel in Galveston sexually assaulted her daughter two years ago and is suing the worker and his employer.

Mindi Motely's lawsuit accuses Ray McChristian of molesting the unnamed child during their stay and faults the Flagship Hotel for not taking any precautionary measures to prevent the Aug. 22, 2008, incident.

The original complaint was filed Aug. 28 in Galveston County District Court.

Although the suit is mum on the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, it asserts the Flagship Hotel did not provide adequate security and lighting on its premises nor promptly discover McChristian's reportedly dangerous propensities.

Motely believes that the Flagship Hotel did not terminate McChristian after the assault.

The suit insists Motely and her daughter experienced pain and suffering, mental anguish, and emotional trauma thus seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Attorney Patton E. Maynard of Fort Worth is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia is presiding over the case.
