Termite infestation leads couple to sue exterminator

A Groves couple is suing their exterminator, claiming a termite infestation has caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to their home.

Michael and Stacy Migues filed their suit against GuardTech Pest Management on Nov. 9 in Jefferson County District Court.

In their suit, the Migueses claim GuardTech performed an inspection of their Groves home and allegedly "missed an active termite infestation, causing damages totaling $9,000."

The suit does not say when GuardTech inspected the couple's home or what, if any, measures the company took to eradicate any bug infestations.

The Migueses are suing GuardTech under the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, entitling them to actual damages and all court costs, including attorney's fees.

They are represented by Beaumont attorney John Morgan.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
