Woman sues city of Beaumont over auto collision

A Jefferson County woman has filed suit against the city of Beaumont, alleging she sustained injuries to her shoulder, neck and back after a Beaumont employee struck her vehicle.

Rashee Guillory claims she was driving south in the 3500 block of Concord Road on Aug. 24 when Beaumont employee Michael Wayne Shilo failed to keep a proper lookout and struck the driver's side of her vehicle.

In addition to her injuries, Guillory has incurred medical costs; experienced mental anguish, physical pain, suffering and disability; and sustained physical impairment, according to the complaint filed Nov. 10 in Jefferson County District Court. She also lost earnings and her earning capacity, the suit states.

Shilo negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes and drove negligently and inattentively, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Guillory is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

She will be represented by Clay Dugas and Mike Jacobellis of Beaumont.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
