City of Beaumont sued for employee's auto collision

Port Arthur resident Mark Ramirez has filed suit against the city of Beaumont, alleging a city employee backed into his vehicle nearly two years ago.

The suit was filed Feb. 16 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to his petition, on March 10, 2009, Ramirez was traveling down Marina Road in Beaumont when city employee Isaiah Latchison backed a city vehicle into him.

However, the suit fails to list any acts of negligence.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
