SembCorp-Sabine Shipyard seeks $165K from tenant

SembCorp-Sabine Shipyard has filed suit against KTM Services, alleging the company owes $165,000 in past due rent.

The suit was filed March 24 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on Oct. 1 SembCorp leased 50 acres of land at 8498 1st Ave., Sabine Pass to KTM at the rate of $1,000 per day. Additionally, a $30,000 was to be paid at the signing of the lease.

"As of March 14, defendant has made no payments whatsoever to plaintiff on the lease or deposit," the suit states. "On that date, $165,000 was due on the lease, and the lease was terminated pursuant to the terms of the lease."

SembCorp alleges KTM breached its contract and is suing to recover actual and consequential damages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Susan Oliver represents the plaintiff.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
