City of Beaumont sued after motorist crashes into work zone

After crashing his car into a work zone two years ago, Larry Veal has filed suit against the city of Beaumont, alleging the excavation site was poorly lit and not barricaded.

The suit was filed May 18 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on May 18, 2009, Veal was traveling down Convord Street when he crashed into the site.

In his suit, Veal alleges it was dark and the site was not lit or barricaded.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Brett Thomas of Thomas, Roebuck, Roebuck & Adams represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
