Judice's French Market sued after woman trips on rug

Port Arthur resident Mary Braziel has filed suit against Judice's French Market & Deli, alleging she tripped on a "dangerous" rug while shopping.

The suit was filed May 24 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to her petition, on Nov. 17, 2009, Braziel was shopping at the Port Arthur store. She was walking through the meat isle when she tripped on the rug.

The suit alleges Judice's French Market negligently failed to inspect and maintain its premises, warn shoppers of dangerous condition and remedy the hazard.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Bellaire attorney Paul Higdon of Stern, Miller & Higdon represents her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
