Bathroom break leads to family held at gunpoint, suit alleges

GALVESTON - Brazoria County resident Jacob Mook has filed suit against Galveston local Henry Glamann, alleging false arrest and imprisonment.

Mook accuses Glamann of holding him and his family at gunpoint during an emergency stop near the latter's home last March 26.

The suit was filed July 11 in Galveston County District Court.

Mook and his family were on their way home from a recreational trip just as his young daughter announced that she needed to use the restroom, according to the original petition.

The plaintiff then pulled the vehicle over to a location close to Glamann's residence, but not on his property, so the young girl can use the family's portable potty.

Court papers show the Mooks waited about 10 minutes on the shoulder of the road for the child when the defendant approached them with a loaded revolver and prevented them from leaving.

Mook tried to explain their presence to Glamann to no avail, the suit says. Galveston Police later arrived to free Mook and his family.

The suit insists the alleged incident did not take place at Glamann's house or on his property, adding the Mooks suffered severe mental anguish and lasting harm.

Mook consequently seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by attorneys Savannah Robinson of Danbury and Robert T. Rice of Angleton.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox.
