Woman sues after pit bull attack

Alleging that she'll require plastic surgery after a pit bull bit her in the face, Katherine Welch has filed suit against the dog's owner, Port Neches resident Jessie Peterson Jr.

The suit was filed Sept. 14 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, the alleged attack occurred on Aug. 19, 2011.

"Plaintiff was bitten in the face and will require plastic surgery," the suit states, adding that Peterson negligently caused the incident by failing to restrain the pit bull.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Dan Ducote Jr. of Moore Landrey represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
