A Jefferson County man claims he sustained physical pain after a driver failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and struck his vehicle.
Spencer Johnson filed a lawsuit Feb. 21 in Jefferson County District Court against Antonio Fernando Uribe.
In his complaint, Johnson alleges he drove south in the 300 block of St. Helena Street on Feb. 20, 2010, when Uribe, who drove east in the 200 block of Tulane Street, failed to obey a stop sign and collided with Johnson’s vehicle.
In addition to his physical pain, Johnson suffered mental anguish and physical impairment and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.
He blames Uribe for causing the collision, saying Uribe negligently failed to drive at a reasonable speed and drove without considering the safety of others on the road.
In his complaint, Johnson seeks a judgment of $100,000, plus compensatory, punitive and exemplary damages, pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Juan R. Zamora of Zamora Law Firm in Dallas will be representing him.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
