Suit alleges collision caused by defendants’ carelessness

Area resident Michael Thompson is suing Beaumont locals Travis Hinkston and Katherine Rideaux, alleging the defendants “carelessness” caused an automobile collision.

The suit was filed March 1 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, the collision occurred on Jan. 6 “because of the recklessness and carelessness of the defendants, causing severe and permanent injuries to plaintiff.”

The suit does not state where the collision occurred but does allege, however, that Rideaux was guilty of driving the wrong direction and without a driver’s license.

Hinkston is faulted for negligently entrusting the vehicle to her.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Adam Nichols of the law firm Reaud, Morgan & Quinn represents him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
