GALVESTON - A League City man has filed suit over a two-vehicle accident in Amarillo two years ago, recent court documents say.
Michael Z. Allison claims Highland Mills, N.Y., resident Howard Trebach slammed his vehicle into a late model sports utility vehicle in which he was a passenger on May 21, 2010.
Allison's lawsuit was filed May 21 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3.
The plaintiff was being driven by his co-worker to Amarillo's Rick Husband Airport at the time of the event in question.
Trebach was in an opposite lane of the same roadway.
According to the original petition, the defendant's vehicle "swerved violently to the left, crossing over multiple access lanes that had separated the paths of his vehicle and the vehicle in which the plaintiff was traveling and plowed directly, violently and forcefully into the passenger side of the vehicle in which the plaintiff was traveling."
The suit asserts Trebach "was distracted, careless and failed to observed the traffic conditions in which he was driving" when the supposed collision occurred, stating he lost control and crashed into the SUV carrying Allison.
Allison adds he promptly sought medical attention before he flew home to Houston after which he was hospitalized.
His co-worker's fate is not mentioned.
The plaintiff consequently seeks $100,000 in damages and a jury trial.
Attorney Barry S. Baumgarten of Houston is representing Allison.
Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 Judge Christopher Dupuy is presiding over the case.
