Recovery of $18K debt sought by Capital One

Capital One Bank has filed suit against Beaumont resident Doris Breckenridge, alleging she owes more than $18,000 on a delinquent credit account.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, Capital One advancing dollar amounts to the defendant on a credit account that she became obligated to pay.

The suit does not state when the account was opened, but does state that the defendant ceased making payments on the account, thereby creating a default.

On June 26 Capital One claims it sent a letter demanding payment but the defendant still refuses to repay the debt, according to the suit.

As of Aug. 2, the amount due and owing on the account is $18,555.88, the suit states.

“Defendant has presented its claim to defendant for payment, by defendant has failed and refused to pay the amount owed,” the suit states.

Capital One is suing for actual damages, interest court costs and attorney’s fees.

Carrollton attorney Michael Scott represents the lender.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
