As previously reported, Harris county resident Pamela Maxwell filed suit against Greyhound, Maximino Arellano and Rudolph Mazin Jr. on March 28 in Jefferson County District Court.
On April 30 Greyhound and Mazin answered the lawsuit, asserting that another party caused the collision and that defendants were acing under a sudden emergency, court records show.
According to the lawsuit, on August 20, 2012, Maxwell purchased a Greyhound bus ticket departing from Atlanta, Ga. While traveling through Port Arthur, the bus driver, Mazin, collided with a pickup truck.

The suit alleges Greyhound is liable for Mazin’s negligence, which included failing to yield the right of way, secure objects during transport and keep a proper lookout.
Maxwell is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.
Houston attorney Paul Higdon represents her.
Greyhound is represented by Houston attorney Glenn Fahl.
