Sam Sheffield filed suit in the District Court of Jefferson County on Nov. 13, naming Mark Crowder and Tara Nayons as the defendants.

According to Sheffield, on Oct. 20 he was the victim of a drunk driving accident. Crowder was allegedly driving Nayons' car with her permission while she too was intoxicated.

Sheffield says Crowder swerved out of his lane on Major Drive into oncoming traffic and that is when the vehicles collided. A police officer allegedly investigated the accident and stated Crowder was intoxicated and that is what caused the accident.

Sheffield claims to have suffered injuries to his back, neck and body. Sheffield now brings this negligence lawsuit against the two defendants seeking to hold them liable for his injuries and the costs associated therewith.

Sheffield is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

He is being represented by attorney Clay Dugas.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
