J.C. Penney sued after woman falls in store

A woman is suing after she slipped and fell inside a department store.

Hilda Gonzalez filed a lawsuit Jan. 6 in the Jefferson County District Court against J.C. Penney Corp. Inc., citing premise liability. 

According to the complaint, on Nov. 22, the plaintiff sustained injuries when she stepped on unseen debris and slipped and fell while at the defendant's store in Parkdale Mall.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to inspect its premises, failed to make the premises safe and failed to warn of the dangerous condition.

Gonzalez is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Malachi Daws of The Daws Law Firm.
