Widow sues nursing home over husband's death

A widow is suing a nursing and rehabilitation center after her husband died of sepsis.


Beverly Ann Stewart filed a lawsuit March 13 in the Jefferson County District against Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, citing negligence. 

The lawsuit states Charles Larry Stewart was a patient of Summer Place on Major Drive in Beaumont from Oct. 31, 2012, to Nov. 20, 2012.

According to the complaint, Stewart suffered injuries including significant decubitus ulcers that allegedly led to his death due to sepsis, which is believed to have been caused by specific acts and omissions.

Stewart is seeking the maximum amounts of damages allowed, including exemplary damages, pre-judgment and post-judgment interests, plus court costs.
