A Harris County resident brought a lawsuit against a hotel business for alleged negligence in 2014.
Brandy Hall filed a complaint against Nederland Lodging Group, d/b/a Candlewood Suites Port Arthur/Nederland, in Jefferson County District Court on May 12, claiming liability in a May 2014 alleged incident on the defendant’s premises in Beaumont.
The suit states that Hall fell in a deep hole as she was walking to the front door of Candlewood Suites on or about May 9, 2014. According to the filing, the defendant breached its duty of ordinary care to the general public including the plaintiff, who alleges that she incurred personal injuries.
Asserting that the defendant should have been aware of the risks posed by its facility’s flaws and that the conditions created an unreasonable risk of harm, the plaintiff claims past and future physical pain, suffering, and mental anguish; lost wages and earning capacity; impairment, and medical expenses.
Hall cites injuries to her head, tailbone, neck, back and general body. She additionally maintains that any pre-existing conditions were exacerbated by the alleged incident.
The plaintiff seeks between $100,000 and $500,000 in damages; pre-judgment interest; attorney’s fees; expenses, and costs.
