The Jefferson County District Court reported the following activities in the suit brought by Beaumont Eastex FWY Big 22 LLC against Matthew Pete on Oct. 21.
BEAUMONT – The Ninth Court of Appeals today affirmed a lower court’s ruling dismissing a man’s personal injury claim against Beaumont Municipal Transit.
The Jefferson County District Court reported the following activities in the suit brought by Beaumont TX Dowlen Big 22 LLC against Michael Hayes on Oct. 18.
BEAUMONT – A $27 million judgment against UPS was wiped by the Ninth Court of Appeals today, as justices have ordered the case be transferred out of Jefferson County.

HOUSTON – Last August, Brent Coon was hit with a legal malpractice lawsuit alleging the Beaumont attorney botched his representation of a Deepwater Horizon oil spill claimant.
HOUSTON – Eric Dick has filed hundreds of lawsuits against insurers over the years, but now it seems the storm attorney is reluctant to actually litigate some of those cases, as another motion to show cause has been filed in another one of Dick’s suits.

BEAUMONT – A complex case centered on the sale of a hotel is now up on appeal, where justices will decide if Judge Kent Walston, 58th District Court, erred in doling out $100,000 in earnest money to a company that backed out of a sales contract.
BEAUMONT – A Baptist Hospital patient who spilled hot coffee on himself, resulting in a few treatable blisters, wants the Ninth Court of Appeals to reverse a summary judgment ruling in favor of the health care provider.
BEAUMONT – A final judgment was recently entered in a lawsuit that resulted in a $113 million jury verdict against United of Omaha Life Insurance last month.
