Three accident victims take driver to court for failed u-turn maneuver

Galveston county courthouse

Three Galveston County residents filed a lawsuit against an Oklahoma man for alleged vehicular negligence in 2013.

Glena Parkinson, Rosamond Jones and Merriall Davies filed a complaint against Ralph Earl Allred II of Hugo, OK, in Galveston County District Court on June 15, claiming liability in a June 2013 automobile collision near the 6300 block of Seawall Boulevard.

According to the suit, the three plaintiffs were traveling westbound on Seawall when a vehicle operated by the defendant suddenly made an improper u-turn in front of the plaintiffs’ vehicle, allegedly striking it violently on the front side. Parkinson, Jones and Davies allege serious personal injuries.

The complaint faults Allred with vehicular negligence in failing to stay in a single traffic lane, maintain an appropriate speed, keep a proper lookout, control his vehicle, and pay full attention to the traffic circumstances.

The plaintiffs collectively allege pain and suffering, anguish, impairment, disability and medical expenses. Stating that their damages are in excess of the minimal jurisdictional limits of the court, they seek up to $100,000 in compensation for injuries, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, expenses, and costs. The plaintiffs are represented by Martin Halick of Houston.
