Galveston County woman alleges driver caused severe damage in rear-end collision

A Galveston County woman is suing a motorist, alleging gross negligence in a collision that she says left her with severe and permanent injuries.

Cassandra Lafferty filed a lawsuit June 18 in Galveston County District Court against David Glenn of Santa Fe, Texas, alleging vehicular negligence in a 2014 accident.

According to the suit, on Aug. 14, 2014, Lafferty was driving west on the Emmett F. Lowry Expressway feeder road in Texas City, and when she was stopped at an intersection waiting for the traffic light to change, Glenn crashed into the back of her vehicle without warning. The suit says Glenn was in breach of ordinary care and operated his vehicle unsafely, failing to keep a proper lookout, apply brakes in a timely manner or control his speed.

The suit says Glenn's driving involved an extreme degree of risk and that he continued with reckless indifference to the plaintiff’s safety, The plaintiff alleges pain and suffering, anguish, impairment, disfigurement and medical expenses.

Lafferty seeks more than $100,000 in compensation for punitive and/or exemplary damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, expenses and costs. She is represented by attorneys Chad Pinkerton, Benjamin Roberts and J. Josh Collum of The Pinkerton Law Firm in Houston.
