City of Beaumont to be non-suited in case over scheduled demolition of home

The city of Beaumont will soon be non-suited from litigation brought by a Jefferson County man who sued the city in order to save a home he purchased from demolition.

On April 28 Gary Robbins filed a lawsuit in the Jefferson County District Court, seeking a temporary restraining order and temporary and permanent injunction against the city of Beaumont.

In his suit, Gary Robbins says he purchased a home at 2180 Pecos St. in Beaumont to save it from a scheduled demolition after it was declared a dilapidated structure by the city.

Court records show that on Sept. 3 Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, signed an order submitted by the parties that states the city will be non-suited with prejudice on Feb. 3.

Beaumont attorney Jeffrey T. Roebuck is representing Robbins.

Attorney Quentin Price is representing the city.
