A Hardin County woman is seeking a restraining order in anticipation of future civil action regarding the death of a relative.

Catherine Wood, individually and as representative of the estate of Robert Lance Wood, deceased, filed a for a temporary restraining order Nov. 6, 2012, in Jefferson County District Court against Elmer Ray Rivers Jr.

According to the complaint, Robert Lance Wood was stopped at a red light on South LHS Drive in Lumberton on Oct. 16, 2014, when Rivers, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, struck the back of Wood's vehicle, pushing it into the towed unit in front of him and causing Wood to sustain fatal injuries. Catherine Wood says she has been unable to inspect the vehicle involved in the collision although it will be necessary for future civil suits she anticipates.

Wood seeks a restraining order preventing Rivers from moving or altering the vehicle involved in the collision. She is represented by attorney Jane S. Leger of Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.
