BEAUMONT -- A Jefferson County woman filed a lawsuit against an entertainment facility for alleged premises liability in 2013.
Angela Dodson filed a complaint on May 14 against Compro Event Center, of Beaumont, in Jefferson County District Court, claiming breach of duty in November 2013.
The complaint states that Dodson slipped and fell due to a dangerous condition on the defendant’s premises on or about Nov. 14, 2013, allegedly due to negligence.
Claiming that Compro knowingly permitted the area to become dangerous; should have known of the hazard; and breached its duty to use ordinary care, including the responsibility to remedy any dangers, the plaintiff professes severe and disabling injuries.
Dodson cites the defendant with negligence in its failure to routinely inspect and maintain the facility; discover and remove hazards; warn the plaintiff of the unsafe condition; and ensure that the floor was dry. Additionally, she claims any preexisting conditions were worsened by the event.
Citing past and future physical pain, suffering and mental anguish, impairment and disfigurement, and medical expenses, the plaintiff seeks over $75,000 in damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees, expenses and costs.
