Louisiana ex-AG joins Big Easy class action lawyers

Charles Foti

BATON ROUGE -- Former Louisiana Attorney General Charles Foti has joined a law firm specialising in class action and personal-injury lawsuits.

Foti will work in the securities and consumer fraud practices of New Orleans-based Kahn Gauthier Swick, LLC (KGS) the firm announced Tuesday. KGS also has offices in New York City and Atlanta.

Foti was elected AG in 2004 after a successful 30-year stint as Orleans Parish (County) Criminal Sheriff. But in a major rebuff from Louisiana voters he was defeated by both Democrat Buddy Caldwell and Republican Royal Alexander in the AG run-off vote last October.

"I feel extremely privileged to join KGS' talented team of lawyers ... fighting for justice on behalf of the victims of fraud," Foti stated. "It was important for me to join a strong, experienced group of lawyers who believe in what they do, and who are committed to our great state of Louisiana."

KGS also has product liability and e-commerce practices and maintains a staff of legal writers who contribute to the firm's subscription website.
