Louisiana couple sues after oilfield accident

MARSHALL A Boone Oilfield Consulting employee said he was injured when an un-anchored pipe flow line ruptured while he was working as a flow-back hand on a natural gas well.

Alleging negligence, Louisiana residents Leland and Karen Taylor filed the lawsuit against the natural gas well's owner and operator Nadel and Gussman LLC.

The couple filed their federal lawsuit July 8 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas.

The accident caused Taylor to injure his right leg and right arm, he says in court papers.

Taylor is seeking damages for medical expenses, physical pain, emotional suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, loss of wages and lost earning capacity, decreased ability to enjoy life and his marriage.

Taylor is arguing the doctrine of respondeat superior, which holds that an employer is generally responsible for employees' injuries sustained within the course of their employment.

Taylor's wife Karen is seeking damages for loss of consortium.

Tyler attorney Andy Tindel of the Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP is representing the plaintiffs.

Oklahoma-based Boone Oilfield Consulting, Inc. has not responded to the allegations.

U.S. District Court Judge T. John Ward is assigned to the case.
