This Just In: Recent civil suits filed in Orange County District Courts

Nov. 3

  • Renee Mulholland vs. Mike Mazzola Jr. Insurance

    PA - Trenton Bond, J - Buddy Hahn

    The plaintiff alleges she hired the defendant to procure a flood insurance policy. The plaintiff claims he negligently failed to obtain the policy and breached his contract.

    The suit does not state if the flood damage to the plaintiff's home is related to Hurricane Ike. The suit does not even state when the incident occurred or when she told the defendant to purchase flood insurance for her.

    The plaintiff is suing for actual and consequential damages.

    While most kids may fear the dentist, the late Donna Carter paid a visit to her dentist last year and died of infection a few days later.

    On behalf of Carter, Peggy Womack filed a petition to investigate for a potential lawsuit against Dr. Shannon M. Messer. Court documents show that on Aug. 7, 2007, Carter had a tooth extracted by Dr. Messer. Following the extraction, Carter experienced vomiting and bleeding.

    Although the Dixie Dance Hall is gone, the suits against the former Crocket Street hangout continue. Three Octobers ago The Dixie's Bouncers threw Zachary Bailey out. Now he's suing them for being too rough.

    He is suing for exemplary damages.

    The plaintiff was injured Dec. 10, 2006, while driving along Interstate 10. She was insured under her mother's insurance and made a claim under its uninsured motorist coverage.

    She is suing for pain and suffering, plus actual damages and court costs.
