This Just In: Recent civil suits filed in Orange County District Courts

  • Annie Mullins vs. Chris West

    PA - Clay Dugas, J - Pat Clark

    Individually and on behalf of her minor son, the plaintiff is suing the defendant for causing an automobile collision on Nov. 12.

    The plaintiff was traveling south on Highway 87 when the defendant rear-ended her, causing her to spin out and stop in a nearby residence's yard.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Darra Venable vs. W.W. Webber LLC

    PA - Michael McGown, J - Dennis Powell

    On March 6, 2007, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant as a traffic control worker. During her employment, the plaintiff alleges she was the victim of harassment.

    She alleges her supervisor shouted profanities at her.

    She also alleges she was unfairly terminated for driving a vehicle without the proper license when it was her supervisor who told her to drive it.

    She is suing for past and future mental anguish and lost wages.

  • Elizabeth Bearden vs. Rose Thayer Academy of Dance and Lutcher Theater Inc.

    On May 11 the plaintiff was at the defendant's theater. She was being escorted by an usher with a flash light to her seat when she tripped and fell.

    She claims the defendants are negligent for keeping the theater poorly lit.

    She is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

    Carol Langley vs. Charles Rouse

    On July 22, 2007, the defendant was traveling east on West Roundbunch when he failed to yield the right-of-way and struck the defendants vehicle while turning into a private residence.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Joann Parker vs. Southern Rentals et al

    On Feb. 2, 2007, the plaintiff was traveling on Main Street in Vidor when one of the corporate defendant's employees allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way and struck his vehicle.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Russell Lorenz vs. Bobby Wood, Jr.

    On Sept. 6, 2007, the plaintiff was a passenger in a vehicle that was traveling North on Harvey Street when the defendant failed to control his speed and struck the vehicle the plaintiff was riding in.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

    The plaintiff is suing the defendant to recover her investments put forth toward a Vidor home the two lived together in since 1994.
