New hurricane-related insurance lawsuits filed in Jefferson County


A total of 12 hurricane-related suits were filed against insurance companies during the week of March 9-13, 2009.

The following suits were filed relating to Hurricane Rita, Sept. 24, 2005:

  • Rahim Jabbar of 2550 Pennsylvania St. in Beaumont alleges Standard Guaranty Insurance Company denied his claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. Standard denied the claim after it assigned adjuster Tom Wyche to investigate. Jabbar is represented by J. Steve Mostyn and Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston.   • Carlton Johnson Sr. and Gloria L. Johnson of 3695 Ironton St. in Beaumont allege Delta Lloyds Insurance Company of Houston denied their claims for roof, water, foundation and wind damages after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. They say Delta denied their claim after it assigned Southern Adjusters and adjuster Robert Eric Morton to investigate. The Johnsons are represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F.   • Delores Preston of 6010 Tyrrell Park Road in Beaumont alleges Delta Lloyds Insurance Company of Houston denied her claim for roof, water, foundation and wind damages caused to her home after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. Delta denied the claim after it assigned The Littleton Group and adjusters Desiree Arceneaux, Jim Malain and Jimmy Romero to investigate. Preston is represented by J. Steve Mostyn, Michael R.   • Ivory and Ressie Pugh of 5750 Stanford Drive in Beaumont allege Delta Lloyds Insurance Company of Houston denied their claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused to their home after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. Delta denied the claim after it assigned adjustor Mike Daniels to investigate, according to the complaint. The Pughs are represented by J. Steve Mostyn and Michael R.   • Belinda and David Roggenkamp of 200 Rustic Lane in Lumberton allege Standard Guaranty Insurance Company denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. Standard denied the after it assigned adjusters Roland Almaraz and Fred Davis to investigate, according to the complaint. The Roggenkamps are represented by J. Steve Mostyn and Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Hardin County District Court case number: 48124.

  • Larry Scott of Rt. 2 Box 233-12 in Jasper alleges Standard Guaranty Insurance Company and American Security Insurance Company denied his claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages to his home after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. Standard and American denied the claim after they assigned adjuster Thomas Lee Bashioum to investigate. Scott is represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont and by J.   • Lino and Maria Zamudio of 7920 Lawrence Drive in Beaumont allege Delta Lloyds Insurance Company of Houston denied their claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. Delta denied the claim after it assigned Littleton Group Insurance Services and adjuster Jim Malain to investigate. The Zamudios are represented by J. Steve Mostyn and Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: B179-701.

    The following suits were filed relating to Hurricane Ike, Sept. 13, 2008:

  • Kevin and Connie Christopher of 4801 Lake Shore Drive in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association failed to properly and timely pay their claim for damage caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. The Christophers are represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Otto D. Hewitt III of the Hewitt Law Firm in Alvin is of counsel.   • Jesse and Mary Booker of 9833 Lawhorn Road in Beaumont allege Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Company denied their claim for damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Capitol denied the claim after it assigned adjuster Brenda Louise Denby to investigate. The Bookers are represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F.   • Raymond and Joyce Jones of 745 Zavalla St. in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its vice president of claims, Reggie Warren, assigned Specialty Claim Services and adjuster Todd Williams to investigate, according to the complaint.   • Wilson McCoy of 15318 Arnold in Baytown claims Escobedo Insurance Agency denied his claims for damages under his windstorm policy after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Named as co-defendant is Escobedo's owner, Zulema Escobedo. McCoy is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E183-525.

  • Darik Jahkur Muhammad of 4670 Galveston St. in Beaumont claims Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claims for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to his home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its vice president of claims, Reggie Warren, assigned adjuster Tara Biasucci to investigate. Muhammad is represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F.
