Woman sues HEB over fall at Beaumont store

A Jefferson County woman is suing a grocery store for alleged injuries she received after she slipped in the store.

Peggy Green filed a lawsuit April 21 in Jefferson County District Court against H.E. Butt Grocery Company.

Green says she was shopping at an HEB located on 1180 South 11th St. in Beaumont on May 16, 2007, when she slipped and fell on a foreign substance.

Because of her fall, Green incurred medical expenses, experienced physical pain, suffering, mental anguish and physical impairment and lost wages, the complaint says.

H.E. Butt Grocery Company was negligent, Green claims, by failing to provide proper warnings, by failing to warn of the dangerous condition, by creating an unreasonable dangerous condition and by failing to correct the dangerous condition.

Green is seeking unspecified general and special damages, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Clint Brasher and Joe Muckleroy of Beaumont will be representing Green.

The case was assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: E183-848.
