Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of 14 hurricane-related suits were filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court during the week of April 13-17, 2009.

The following claims were filed regarding damage from Hurricane Ike:

  • Evelyn Sims of 2458 Amarillo in Beaumont alleges Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance company denied her claim for dwelling and contents damages to her home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Sims is represented by Jason M. Byrd of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E183-764.

  • Ofelia Galvan of 6024 West Madison St. in Groves alleges Farmers Insurance Exchange denied her claim for roof, water, structural, contents and wind damage after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Galvan is represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Shawn Gallander of Jefferson County alleges Southern Vanguard Insurance Company and The Republic Group denied his claim for damages to his home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Southern Vanguard and The Republic Group denied the claim after they hired Nomad Adjusting and adjuster Chad Wendland to investigate, according to the complaint. Gallander is represented by Kurt B.   • Harold Louis Wyble of 513 Bass Road in Beaumont alleges Farmers Fire Insurance Exchange denied his claims for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Jefferson County District Court case number: E183-779.

  • Victoria and Enrique Hernandez of 3449 26th St. in Port Arthur allege Farmers Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. They are represented by Scott Renick of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E183-780.

  • Henry Brent Crawley of 9630 Meadowbrook Drive in Beaumont alleges State Farm Lloyds denied his claim for damages to his home caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Crawley is represented by Scot O. Renick of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B183-781.

  • Amy Gooch-Duhon of Jefferson County alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for damages to her home caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Gooch-Duhon is represented by Frederick L. McGuire and Colleen M. McClure of the Law Office of Frederick L. McGuire in Spring. Jefferson County District Court case number: A183-784.

  • Vince Armentor of 2019 Main St. in Groves alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages to his home caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.   • Bryan and Susan Gray of 4129 Beckridge Road in Sabine Pass allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claims for damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.   • Macy and Rebecca Dubose of 11277 S. Gulfway in Sabine Pass allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.   • Marvin and Mildred Park of 4335 Thomas Glen in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. The Parks are represented by Kenneth W. Lewis of Bush Lewis in Beaumont and by Scott Renick of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D183-821.

  • Griffin Marketing, doing business as Mini Mart at 3453 25h St. in Port Arthur, alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for damages to its building, contents, inventory, equipment, canopy, gas pumps and signs after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.   • Alishan Inc., doing business as Super Stop 16 at 1165 South 11th St. in Beaumont, alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for damages to its building, contents, inventory, equipment, canopy, gas pumps and signs caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.   • Mary Elizabeth and Jack Moore Jr. of 8755 Lawrence Drive in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for dwelling and contents damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.
