Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of seven new lawsuits against insurance companies over hurricane damage claims have been filed in Jefferson County District Court, Oct. 13-16, 2009.

The following complaints have been filed:

  • Ronnie and Ella Chessher of 4895 Coolidge in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind, contents and structural damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned IMS Catastrophe Services and adjuster Jack Torbett to investigate. The Chesshers will be represented by Philip M. Kanayan of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E185-130.

  • Nathaniel and Karen Collins of 2319 10th St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned GAB Robins North America and adjusters Jack Wester and Donald Tate to investigate, according to the complaint. The Collins will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Woodrow and Delores Edwards of 5345 Parkview Drive in Beaumont allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind, contents and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Edwards will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Patricia Parham of 3836 Lexington in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association underpaid her claim for roof, wind, water, structural and contents damages caused to her home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Legacy Claim Services and adjusters Brandon Brock and John Carpenter to investigate. Parham will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A185-137.

  • Port Arthur International Seamen's Center Inc., doing business as Port Arthur International Seafarers' Center, of 401 Houston Ave. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for business interruption and for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Port Arthur International Seafarers' Center will be represented by Lance P. Bradley and Gordon D. Friesz of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele and Chatelain in Port Arthur. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-120.

  • Tammy Taylor of 2220 Gilbert St. in Groves alleges State Farm Lloyds denied her claim for roof, water, contents, wind and structural damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Taylor will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Sadie Theriot of 2334 Cox St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof, wind, water, structural and foundation damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Texas Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company to investigate. Theriot will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-136.
