Man claims couple kicked in door, stole child

Nederland resident Shawn Manning has filed suit against Ian and Katrina Clark, claiming the couple kicked open his door, ransacked his home and then stole his son.

The suit was filed June 13 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on June 26, 2009, the Clarks allegedly trespassed on his property and kicked his home's door, causing $5,000 in damages.

The suit alleges the Clarks' objective was to steal Manning's son and return him to his mother, Sarah Baker, who resides outside Jefferson County.

Manning maintains that a court awarded him full custody and ordered that the boy not be removed from Jefferson County.

For the invasion of his home and the mental anguish and property damage it caused, Manning is asking the court to award him exemplary damages in the amount of $20,000.

He is represented by Port Arthur attorney Carl Parker.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
