An Orange County woman claims she sustained permanent bodily impairment after falling at a grocery store.
Chloe A. Spoonemore filed a lawsuit March 17 in Jefferson County District Court against HEB Grocery Company doing business as HEB Plus.
Spoonemore alleges she was on the HEB Plus premises at 3025 Dowlen Road in Beaumont on March 20, 2008, when she slipped and fell due to an unsafe and dangerous condition.
Because of her fall, Spoonemore incurred medical costs, lost earnings, lost her earning capacity and suffered physical pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint.
She blames HEB Plus for failing to warn her of a dangerous condition on the premises, for maintaining an unsafe area, for failing to provide adequate warnings of the dangerous condition and for maintaining distractions that pulled her eyes away from the dangerous condition.
In her complaint, Spoonemore seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, exemplary damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
