A Beaumont man claims he incurred medical bills after a driver struck him as he attempted to cross a parking lot.
Luis Rojo filed a lawsuit March 29 in Jefferson County District Court against Karen Freeman.
Rojo claims he was crossing a parking lot at Jason's Deli on Dowlen Road in Beaumont on Dec. 23 when Freeman struck him with her vehicle.
Because of the incident, Rojo sustained injuries to his neck, back, left knee, left elbow, right ankle and his body as a whole; experienced mental anguish, physical pain, disability and loss of enjoyment of his life; and sustained disfigurement, according to the complaint. In addition, he lost his earning capacity and suffered physical impairment, the suit states.
Rojo blames Freeman for failing to maintain control of her vehicle, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to timely apply her brakes, for driving in a negligent and unsafe manner and for driver inattentiveness.
The deli is not named in the suit.
Rojo seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief to which he may be entitled.
