The children of a recently deceased man claim their father was exposed to asbestos throughout his career with Chevron.
Casey Kugler and Kristen Kugler filed a lawsuit April 22 in Jefferson County District Court against the company.
The plaintiffs claim that while their father, Cyrus Kugler, worked as a helper, electrician and operator for Chevron, he was exposed to asbestos.
Because of his exposure to the substance, Cyrus Kugler developed lung cancer from which he died on July 15, 2008, according to the complaint.
The plaintiffs blame Chevron for a number of negligent acts, such as allowing Cyrus Kugler to work around the substance when Chevron knew of its hazards, exposing Cyrus Kugler to asbestos, failing to timely and adequately warn Cyrus Kugler of the dangers of asbestos exposure and failing to take proper precautions to ensure that Cyrus Kugler was not exposed to asbestos.
The plaintiffs are seeking exemplary and punitive damages, plus interest, costs and other relief to which they may be entitled.
