Galveston condos sue contractor over shoddy lighting work

GALVESTON - A Galveston condominium and a Houston construction company seek approximately $50,000 from a Mississippi contractor and one of its local agents in response to reportedly shoddy lighting repairs.

Casa Del Mar Association Inc., its subsidiaries and Gulf Side Construction LLC claim that B. Phillips Contracting of Missippi LLC and Benjymen P. Bartolone of New Caney wrecked the complex's existing conduit when the defendants dismantled the florescent lighting.

The suit was filed May 3 in Galveston County District Court.

The defendants abandoned the project and filed a "slanderous" lien affidavit on the premises, the original petition says.

Casa Del Mar states that Gulf Side was forced to complete the work at its own cost for far more than its contract with the defendants.

Both plaintiffs are represented by attorney Daniel J. Crowder of Houston.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia.
