Woman injured in wreck sues driver

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to keep a proper lookout and collided with her vehicle.

Laura Guillory Coleman claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries after Gary W. Manuel Jr. collided with her on Nov. 19, 2008.

In addition to her injuries, Coleman experienced physical pain and mental suffering; incurred medical costs; suffered physical impairment, physical disfigurement and emotional distress; and lost her ability to enjoy life, according to the complaint filed May 5 in Jefferson County District Court.

Manuel caused the accident after he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove at an excessive rate of speed, failed to yield the right of way, lacked proper control and failed to timely apply his brakes, the suit states.

In her lawsuit, Coleman is seeking a judgment within the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which he may be entitled.

J. Trenton Bond of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sandersoon, 60th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-794.
