Suit blames three men for causing collision

A woman has filed suit against three men she claims caused a collision.

Mary Jade McGown claims she was driving on US 69 and had slowed for traffic on June 5, 2008, when defendant William Shaver, who was driving a car owned by defendant Robert Espindola and insured by defendant Billy Yancey, failed to control his speed and slammed into her vehicle.

Because of the collision, McGown incurred medical costs; lost earnings and her earning capacity; suffered physical impairment, physical pain and mental anguish; and incurred property damages, according to the complaint filed in Jefferson County District Court.

Shaver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes to avoid the collision and failed to maintain a clear distance between his vehicle and McGown's, the suit states.

In her complaint, McGown is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.

Jefferson County District Court case number: A186-784.
