Worker sues apartment complex for on-the-job injury
GALVESTON - A Montgomery County man seeks $50,000 from his employer and a local apartment complex after he reportedly sustained injuries during a work assignment last year.
Ronnie Inglis was working for Cable TV Construction and Installations Inc. at the Oleander Apartments on June 17, 2009, when he was severely hurt, according to a lawsuit filed May 17 in Galveston County District Court.
The original complaint blames the defendants for failing to provide a safe workplace, failing to provide safe equipment and failing to provide adequate help under the circumstances to perform the work.
The apartment complex is solely faulted for failing to repair a dangerous condition on its premises, failing to conduct safety inspections, failing to warn the plaintiff and general negligence, according to the complaint.
While the suit does not elaborate on the extent of Inglis' injuries, it claims the plaintiff suffered physical pain, mental anguish and a loss of income.
Inglis demands a jury trial in addition to monetary compensation.
Attorney Loren G. Klitsas of Houston is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss is presiding over the case.
