Man claims faulty alarm caused car malfunctions

GALVESTON - A Galveston County man seeks about $20,000 from an auto accessories dealer for a defective car alarm, recent court documents say.

Marcel Schoff purchased the alarm in question from Car Toys Inc. on Dec. 9, 2008, for his Dodge van.

Schoff says that the vehicle broke down numerous times since that time and the problem was linked to the alarm.

His suit, which was filed May 5 in Galveston County Court No. 2, claims agents of the defendant told him that the alarm would not harm the van.

Attorney Kenneth C. Kaye of League City is representing the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court No. 2 Judge C.G. "Trey" Dibrell III.
