Suit filed against ship owner after man injured in fall

GALVESTON - A Galveston man is suing his employers over a fall down stairs while on board defendant's ship.

Joseph Cheeke's personal injury lawsuit against AET Lightering Services LLC, AET Inc. Ltd. and AET Offshore Services Inc. claims that on Nov. 25, 2009, Cheeke injured his neck, back, shoulders and other parts of his body as a result of his alleged fall aboard the AET Discovery.

The suit was filed June 7 in Galveston County Court No. 3.

The defendants are blamed for numerous offenses, including but not limited to, failing to maintain the vessel and violating maritime laws.

Cheeke consequently seeks damages for physical pain, physical impairment, and mental anguish as well as a jury trial.

Arnold & Itkin LLP is representing the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court No. 3 Judge Roy Quintanilla.
