Man claims co-worker ran over him with bus

GALVESTON - A Houston man who claims his co-worker ran him over with a bus is suing the co-worker, their employer and the owner of the bus.

Fredys Alvarado filed suit against Southeast Abatement Services Inc., Interstate Bus Services Inc. and Javier Alonso on June 1 in Galveston County District Court.

Alvarado and Alonso work for Southeast Abatement. The vehicle belonged to Interstate Bus and was leased to the company.

According to the complaint, Alonso failed to maneuver a 1984 S1800 yellow bus that hit Alvarado near a Galveston gas station on Oct. 9, 2008.

The suit faults Alonso for being an unsafe and reckless driver and not carrying a driver's license, and also blames Southeast Abatement for hiring and retaining him.

Alvarado seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by attorney Francisco G. Medina of Houston.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Lox.
