A Jefferson County man has filed suit against his former employer, alleging he was illegally terminated because of his race and age.
Bruce Green, who is black, claims he worked for defendant Trimac Transportation where he endured racial and age discrimination. Green suffered from diabetes and gout and claims Trimac used his disabilities to discriminate against him.
In addition, the company took retaliatory measures against Green because he complained about a tanker trailer leaking C5 Isoprene, a volatile liquid used to make synthetic rubber.
Eventually, Trimac terminated Green "in retaliation for his complaints of Defendant's unlawful employment activities, and for discrimination resulting in a hostile work environment," the suit states.
In his complaint filed June 18 in Jefferson County District Court, Green is seeking non-pecuniary and pecuniary damages, plus reinstatement and/or front pay and punitive damages.
John M. Morgan of Harris, Duesler and Hatfield in Beaumont and E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell will be representing him.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
