Attempt to pay cable bill results in suit against Time Warner

A Groves woman claims she sustained injuries when she attempted to pay her cable bill.

Linda Conklin filed a lawsuit June 29 in Jefferson County District Court against Time Warner Cable.

Conklin claims she attempted to pay her cable bill at Time Warner's Jefferson County store on July 23, 2008, when her foot slipped under an unaffixed concrete parking block and she fell, hitting a barrier.

Because of her fall, Conklin sustained physical pain, mental anguish and physical impairment, incurred medical costs and lost wages and her earning capacity, according to the complaint.

In her suit, Conklin accuses Time Warner of negligence, saying the company failed to use ordinary care to maintain the premises in a safe condition and failed to avoid a foreseeable risk of injury to others.

Conklin seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Jason L. Cansler of Brent Coon and Associates in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: B187-169.
