Tractor-trailer fails to yield to truck and causes collision

LUFKIN-A Texas resident has filed a lawsuit against the employer of a tractor-trailer driver who failed to yield and collided into her vehicle.

Jennifer Johnson filed suit against Marshall Saltzman, Chucky's Trucking Co. Inc. and Acme Truck Line on Sept. 23 in the Eastern District of Texas, Lufkin Division.

The accident occurred on July 29 near Nacogdoches. According to court records, Johnson was driving her 2001 Ford F250 pickup on US 59, when a trailer-truck changed lanes, came around Johnson's vehicle and turned into her path, causing the collision.

The defendant is accused of failing to yield the right of way, failing to properly apply the brakes in order to avoid the collision, turning in an unsafe manner, failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to drive in a single lane of traffic and driving in a reckless manner.

Johnson is seeking damages for physical pain, suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, physical impairment, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, interest and court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Jeff Badders of Badders Law Firm in Nacogdoches. Jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark is assigned to the case.
